How To Wrap A Closed End Candy Bar

How to Make Standard Closed End Wrapper
By Lee Siefert www.rogerwrapit.com

Materials Needed:

Wrap Candy Software
Hershey’s bars 1.55 oz
Inkjet or laser printer
Inkjet , laser or glossy photo paper of any light to medium weight 28 LB. (Hammermill Office One Business Gloss)
Cutting instrument or very sharp scissors
A glue stick or similar glue product

This template is for the standard closed end bar that does not have the foil wrapping added. The candy bar ends get tucked in and/or taped down and the wrapper ends are glued and pinched closed and/or crimped.

[A crimper can be purchased from a local craft or hobby/scrapbook store. The ends of the wrapper get rolled into this up to the bar, leaving a rippled edge appearance]

The cwr template file I have included has all the lines kept in to help you visualize where the graphics and/or text would go. You can print this out and keep by your side, or delete all the lines and write down the numbers and Save As without the lines and graphics .

Measurements for this bar is 6.7 wide x 5.5 high.
(Insert cwr file here)

Here is a full template screen shot with the lines.

Lay your bar flat on a table. The front/top part of your bar would need the graphics between 9/10 to 30/31 for centering placement and these are ruler guide marks on the left side of your design. They are in 10th’s; so 1 is 10, 2 is 20 and so on.

After making several of these, you will find that  taping the ends down is not necessary. It doesn’t matter which way you lay the bar down either,
however it may be easier to keep the Hershey’s name on top, facing you because of the natural curl of the wrapper ends go in that direction, or fold the ends in and have the back facing you. Only ‘practice’, will give you the easiest technique and there is no right or wrong way, but what is comfortable to you.

Your wrapper would need glue on three sides; both long sides and the bottom of the inside end facing you that is folded over and attached to the top.

Here is a picture of where the glue stick would be used.

The top of the wrapper would be facing you, fold over to the 8th ruler mark area after using the glue stick. Take the bottom edge and fold over to attach to the top and press down. The same with the sides, press/pinch them closed. With a pair of scissors, any uneven ends can be snipped.

At this point you can put the ends into the crimper and roll up to the end of the candy bar and again on the other side. Or, if you prefer, leave it the way it is or use
decorative craft scissors to make a fancy edging. The choice is yours and your creativity.

An added idea is to place a bow or embellishments/scrapbooking items on your wrapper if you choose to.

Here is a picture of a finished closed end bar.

Good luck and happy wrapping.
