Most of the posts re: new printers are older; According to the tech support guy I talked to last night for 1/2 hour, mine needs to be replaced.....:(

DH is sad that they don't last longer than they do....me, too!!

I did more troubleshooting searches online this morning, so, there are 2 more things I want to try before getting my checkbook out! (I have other things I'd rather spend my $$ on!)

In any case....what are the latest favorite inkjets with individual color cartridges???

Thanks,
Beth

Sorry to hear about your printer Beth.....Well, mine really isn't very new but I love it. Its an HP Photosmart D7160. It prints very clear and vivid. It uses 6 different color ink cartridges. I haven't had a problem with it since I bought it.

Hopefully you'll be able to find a fix for yours......

  • Oh great Ryan, another reason to hang out on the WC forum, :)
I've had my Hp PhotoSmart C6380 All in One for 3 or 4 years with no problem.. i have another one that is an upgrade from this one, but it's still new in the box..i like it mainly because they are wireless, and they take 5 individual ink carts.

Thanks, girls!! I (fingers crossed) hope that cleaning the sensor and the print head might fix the problem. (Going to also try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer....all suggestions that the online troubleshooting say to try that the phone tech didn't tell me to try.
I have only had this printer for about 2 years (or less)....don't want to have to keep buying new every 2 years!! (I'm afraid my laser printer is going to be at the end of it's life soon, and will have to replace that as well.)

Beth,I just bought the new kodak printer and I love it,It is easier on the ink,the colors are amazing, and the ink is probably the cheapest I have seen. The indivisual cartridges that I had in my HP,would not work if one ran out the others would not print for me,but I really love this Kodak one.

I'm with Karm. I love my Kodak. I admit that I had trouble with the first one I bought but (after going to the top of Kodak) they replaced it. And it must have been a lemon. Because this new one works wonderfully. The color is great! The ink is so much cheaper! I admit, I don't get 400 pages like the box says. I don't even get 100 unless I really save on ink. But it works so well and the ink is a good price. Anyway, I would say I love my Kodak!

I've also heard on the radio about the new Epson Force or something like that...sold at Office Max and the other office supply stores. They keep advertising it...as being the fastest printer and cheaper on ink.

I will have to look....tried cleaning the print head and the sensor last night--didn't help. I did uninstall, but didn't have time to reinstall to see if that would take care of it.
Thanks for all the input. It's going to have to wait a week or two, think i need to make a house payment or something silly like that first.....lol.

Another question: so many inkjet printers are all in ones now....I already have an all in one that uses tri-color cartridge and black, don't necessarily need another one, but do you think they will stop making the ones that just print, and NOT do the scanning and faxing? (I guess I bought that all in 1 too quickly--without thinking about individual cartridges.)

Hi Beth. Sorry about your printer.

I'm right there with you.   :'(  My printer has decided after 4 years that it no longer wants to work for me or help me out. I have done everything in the troubleshooting and cleaned the printheads; aligned; etc. no luck. So I too am on the lookout.

I wasn't happy with the fact that I couldn't find anything at the stores except for the all-in-ones. I already have a scanner/copier, and no need for a fax. So if I have to buy an all-in-one then my scanner/copier basically is useless. Why did they hvae to change things? LOL, I know they say its for the better, but it drives me nuts.

Anyway, sorry for ranting (its the meds, loL). I will be watching this thread too carefully to see what seems to be the favorite. (Thanks for your post). Thanks for the replies everyone.

Check your local Staples for their clearance printers.  I just purchased a 380.00 printer for 82.50.  It was a floor item, but when I hooked it up and got online with it.  It only had 88copies printed from it.  HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus, uses three color cartridges and one black.  It is a all in one and wireless, just need a wireless router.  Which I have for our TV to get Netflix through a streamer box.
