Candy buffet
« on: July 13, 2010, 08:27:43 AM »
My daughter is getting married in May and I wanted to do a candy buffet. I called the reception place, which is at a country club, and they said that the items had to be individually wrapped.  That is fine but I didnt really want to have to wrap all the items.  Have any of you ran into this problem before.  I just think that it kind of takes away from the buffet table with everything being wrapped.  I khow I could put things in the cellophane bags, but it is still not the same.  Any other suggestions on how I could do this?  Thanks in advance.

When I did mine, the bride brough all the cannies in there colors. And they was already wrapped, I just put out plastic bags for they could fill then up then selfs. I stood behind to make sure, they didn't over do it. It was the kids that I had to really watch..

Hmmm...that is interesting and kind of a tough one to solve....did you inquire about the reason it has to be wrapped?

Oriental trading sell a ton of variety of candies...check there for some options
I would be curious to know there rason though...see of there is some way they would make an exception or someway to compromise ??
Sorry I can't be of more help ~

In my opinion, if you are renting the facility for your daughters reception, who are they to say what type of candy you have to have on the buffet? I mean really, some of these "Country Clubs" get really anal about their "rules", and I don't see why it's any of their business what type of candy you give to your guests, what's next, telling you what type of cake to serve? I personally don't tell my customers about some of the places for rent here in my town due to the strict rules they try to enforce. Sorry, just venting, been a bad last couple of weeks.

I think I will give them another call to see why it has to be wrapped.  Sounds *** to me too.  It sure makes it more difficult to do the buffet.

I have to agree that I don't understand why they insist on the candy being wrapped...kind of spoils some of the good candies that I would want to use. I hope they change their minds. Mary Ann

The reason is, if someone would get sick, and they came back and found out that it came from this place like the country club. Then they could get sued, that is why allot of places around here, you have to use there carter's, bar tenders and so on. It's not like it use to be when I did weeding cakes and catering..And I think it sucks, but what can you do. It's like us, we have TOU's to follow. So does business now and usually you can't change then. But hope you can..

I just got a reply from the Event Coordinator and she said as long as most of the candy is wrapped, then she doesnt have a problem with it. So at least that is better than having to have it all wrapped.  I feel better now.
