Has anyone ever heard of a candy buffet?

This girl at work is getting married in September and we were talking and she showed me this candy buffet that she wants to set up for her wedding so of course I asked her if I could show her some ideas for the table.  So I am going to try and create somethings with the shares I have acquired from the forum and see how it goes.  I was just amazed at this new trend.  I guess I have been married so long that I haven't been paying attention to the new trends.

There are a bunch of pictures of Candy Buffets on TheKnot.com.  I'm not sure people would pay for the extra price of having custom made wrappers for the buffets.  They are very popular right now and the idea is to use all different kinds of bulk candy in unique glass bowls/jars/containers with nice scoops for guest to scoop out the candy of their liking in small bags or cute containers provided for their favor.  Their are also a couple articles on the buffets on www.favorideas.com.  Just search for candy buffets.  Can you tell I own a candy store??  Just gave a lecture tonight to brides on the latest trends in wedding favors!!

yeah, I have seen them.  I will see if I can find a pic.  I haven't seen wrapped candy used, only "themes" done.  I have seen color themes and candy themes done.  They are very nice, usually they have a small bag with some type of poem on it and the guest gets to fill their bag with whatever they want.

They have all sized paper bags in every color that would be cute to personalize the bags for them to put the candy in.

Yep, I have seen pictures of this too. Huge glass containers filled with all sorts of candies--- the buffets are gorgeous!

I've never seen any wrapped candy used either... but, who knows- maybe this bride wil start a new trend. (Although, I agree with Suzpen... the added cost may cause the bride to shy away).

Yes I have seen it and in fact am doing it for my daughters wedding this June. I actually video taped a wedding special once last year on a morning show and this was one of the ideas. They used many different types of clear containers some with scoops for candy that wasn't wrapped. I remember they had butter mints, jolly ranchers, twizzlers licorice, wrapped toffee candies and a few more.
I am including small paper bags for people to fill on their way out of the reception. My daughter is very excited about this as is her future husband!

I looked up those pictures at theknot.com and I was amazed!  I've never seen anything like this before and could feel the blood sugar rising just looking at the pics.  It looks like a lot of fun!

What gave me the idea to use wrapcandy is because of a picture I saw on theknot.com.  On one of the pictures they have hershey bars on the table.  I figure you can wrap the 1.55 and this way their guest will have a wrapper to remember the occassion. Let me know what you think.

I wasn't aware of this but it's so neat.  Going to suggest to my sis who's getting married next spring.
Anyway, how about doing one of our cute boxes (gable, pinch,popcorn, icicle, any of them would work and be so cute) for them to put the candy in?  I think that's the product I would be pushing.

I made a candy buffet for a recent wedding, but I only used sugar coated almonds, here you get all sorts:from the yogurt covered ones to the lemon icing ones...yummy!All in all there were 15 differenht choices...

I've attached a photo, although it only shows part of the table.
On the tables I had put individual brown candy bags with a note inviting the guests to fill up on their choice....
The display was wuite simple, as the bride requested so.
But I think you should make it more elaborate and colourful depending on the season!

So glad to see this post....we're planning on doing this for my daughter's wedding in September.  I was planning on doing the personalized pinch bags and maybe the chinese take out boxes.  We're still planning, so all this info will sure help us!
