Some one from a member of a church would like me to do plates for the church. I don't know where to start and what to charge. The lady wants 100 of them.

I've done many favors laminated. But never plates...lol.

Any suggestions or advice?

For my grandson's first birthday I laminated 6 inch cake circles and attached them to paper plates to match his party design. Sorry it was several years ago and I was not on the fourm at the time so I did not save anything. patti

Dee - have you tried looking you youtube? I looked and googled and didn't come up with anything ... .
did she show you something? I've never heard of laminating plates ...

I'd ask her what type of plate? A plate to eat off of? A paper plate? Or is she talking about something totally different?

You know the fancy plates you see sometimes propped up on a stand? They want to sell them at the church.

I wish they were paper plates.

I told my mom who works with the lady, can't they just settle for candy bars with the photo of the church on them...lol.

I've made these before..Used a reg. plate from DT and laminated a round circle..so easy..It's for display only ..

You could use clear glass plates and Mod Podge a picture or design to the back, still able to eat off, but must hand wash...

Neat Mary - so you printed off everything that we see and laminated it and then put it on the plate? The pattern around the edges and the center is all one page i guess is what i'm asking?

Getting to hot for chocolate, even though the area they are selling might be cool a person has to take them home and who goes straight home,lol. Wonder how much it would cost to get them done from some site online, i always think if the DT can sell stuff for $1 it cost them maybe 25¢,lol.

Another thing to try is the decal paper on laser printer and bake them in the oven at low heat starting at (celcius) 50 deg and going up to 140 in 10 minute intervals. I have never tried this but the man who supplied me with the decal paper here does these and it's on his site. About washing I am not sure, but i think they are only display plates. Also, the plate surface (same thing like the tiles Carrie had shown us a couple of years ago) must not be bumpy, it must be flat (so no air bubbles can form)

Max - No the design around the plate is on there already .. I just printed the inital on sticker paper and laminated.. Sorry about not saying that in the first place..lol

It looks so close to the design on the outside thats why i thought you put that there as well, neat idea..always like to keep my brain active with ideas,lol..

Well, she is talking about making money off the plates at the church. BUT, they don't want to put out too much money to have them done. So, when I hear a person talking like that, I don't feel the need to make much effort to get the job done.

My Mom works with the lady. I nicely told my Mom I don't care to do 100 plates especially if I'm not going to make a profit off of what I do.

It seems like it could be alot of work...Maybe if I say I'm charging an outrageous price she may stop asking me...lol.

As of now, my Mom wants me to show them a laminated circle of a photo of their church. I can at least do that:-)

Now doing the laminate circle picture of the church, maybe you can make those and sell those to them and they can put them on the plates themselves. Gives me an idea for my church, well not really for the church but the women's group that i belong to to raise some money for the church. I would do our church logo, might give it a try after i finish these 50 dresses i have to sew for them,lol. The church may be be able to cut a deal with the a dollar store to get the plates for half price and then if they do the work themselves won't cost them much to get them done. Plus the church is tax exempt, the tax exempt card i have for my church sure comes in handy when im buying things the i use at the church, so anyway that may be the way to go. As for a price, when i do things for churches I don't try to make a profit, because it generally brings me orders so i get my profit from those people,lol.
