Question about Martha Stewart doily edge punch
« on: May 28, 2010, 05:57:31 AM »
Does anyone have one?  I got one recently, and, just used it for the first time yesterday.

Here's my question - When you punch your paper, does it kinda get 'stuck' in the punch?  Mine did, it was really quite a pain.  Is that the way it is supposed to do, or do you think I got a 'faulty' one?

Thanks for any help.  :)

Mine gets stuck also. It doesn't always do it, but it is a pain when it does. I don't think it's faulty, I think I need to learn how to use it....maybe punch on the table or punch a little faster (push the button a little harder/quicker). Maybe that's the price we pay for such a delicate design. Maybe it would work better with cardstock?

I'm actually not at home for a while, so I can't play with my toys.

I think they are made more for cardstock and not paper and why maybe this is happening. Try on cardsctock and if still having trouble, return and get another one.

I have one and it works just great but I only use it on cardstock. I am not at home but will try it on paper later.

I just tried mine on paper and it works just fine. Try punching a piece of waxed paper a few times and see if that helps. Also if it gets a little dull and catches punch a few times on aluminum foil, that should sharpen it. Make sure you are punching hard enough because it embosses as well as cuts.

Wow great info ladies! I have a 3/4 in hole punch for the kisses and I have had some issues with it. I use the sticker paper for the kisses. I will have to try the WD 40 or wax paper because I think it is just sticky inside from the paper. Also will try the aluminum foil.
Thanks for the info!

I bought one and had to punch several time on aluminum foil to get it to punch without hanging up.  Being the wife of a tooling engineer he says they did not sharpen enough at factory.  I had one fall completely apart, springs clanked on inside after about 5 uses and he had to take it apart and put back together!  AHHHH the joys of mass production!
