QUESTION about Merkin Rainbow Discs

Are Merkins Rainbow Discs CHOCOLATE?   Can I use these to decorate dog bones.  Are they safe for dogs?  Thanks for any info you can provide.

No matter what they call it, the colored Mercken disks are not chocolate.  They are called confectionary coating and generally are flavored vanilla.  They're perfectly safe for dogs.

Real chocolate will have Cocoa Butter as the fat and Chocolate in the ingredients.  Just calling it chocolate don't make it so...(ungrammatical but correct).

A quick thought...you can melt these in the microwave but you must do it very slowly.  Ten seconds, stir, 10 seconds, stir. etc.  The disks will not change shape until mixed with your spoon.  It's easy to burn them, so take it slowly.  If you're going to use a double boiler, make sure that not a single drop of water gets into the coating because it will possibly ruin it.  I know that regular chocolate runs at the sight of a water drop (yep, there's a visual).  Have fun.
