I use either card stock or matte photo paper or you could use some of that paper that says its good for flyers (its usually next to the regular paper in Walmart or other places). Then I just use the contact paper (they have a really clear one). I've never used waterproof paper and it works fine. I wrap both sides to make sure the water doesn't get in. Use a little double sided tape on the back and be sure to use a little contact paper to hold the seams together in the back.

Hope this helps!

thanks, I use the doublesided flyer and brochure paper for my cupcake wrappers, I had thought maybe laminate the front but not sure if both sides would be to stiff.  I am not putting these together, the customer does, I ship the wrappers to her.  I don't want to make it difficultfor her.  I thought of sticker paper laminated on one side but dont think that would hold up.

Diane,
I just made 2 cases for a customer and I used brochure paper and laminated them. It did not run or leak through, they looked really nice!  Then I used double sided tape to put them on. :)

Just wondering if you submerged them in water and still no leaks. I tried doing that on a beer bottle and the ink all ran and the sides of the label unglued.

IF you laminate, do so on both sides and when you cut leave a "lip" around so it stays sealed good!   You will have to space them out in the lamination so you have enough room to leave the edge around the waterlabel.  Yes, they are stiff and you will have to use good tape on the seam.  The 2" Storage Tape is glossy and holds very well when submerged in water.  I use to laminate my waterlabels years ago and that is how I did them for all my inkjet wrappers.  :)  When I got the laser I switched to the igage.com weatherproof paper for the waterlabels........... :)

CA...question about this paper that you use...the site says that it can be used for inkjet as well as laser.  Have you printed on this paper with inkjet?  I am currently using the online labels waterproof labels and I have so much trouble with the ink pooling on saturated designs.  I would love an alternative solution.  I just can't see going through all of those steps to laminate etc-I would have to charge so much for all of that work that I would probably not ever sell any?  :)

Thanks for your thoughts!
JM

If you laminate just use a nice bright white paper.
The weatherproof paper I started using from igage.com I used with the laser.  I tried it with the inkjet but did not like the result at all.
I know there are other places now to get waterproof labels.......just google or look around here on WC....I use to do a TON of waterlabels and wrappers........but since hubby got sick I have not done the business for few years.

Carol Ann,

This helps me too. Someday I hope to get a laser printer and I'd love to try the waterproof labels at that point.

I think it's OK to post a link to an outside vendor. It's not OK to post a link to a WC members website. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'd love to have the link you're talking about........

JM, I have an inkjet printer and I use weatherjet paper from RiteintheRain. It is alittle expensive tho about $1 per page. I also tried the paper from Igage and the color looked faded when it came out of the printer. I tried the paper from online labels also and it chipped and the ink ran alittle when it go wet. So what I'm using now is the weatherjet paper.

Thanks for the tip graceg!  I hardly ever do the waterbottle labels-usually only when the customer requests it as an add-on because I go *** trying to print them on my inkjet.  The labels from online claim to be for either inkjet or laser but I have a heck of a time printing anything with lots of color.  Most of my wrappers are ink eaters-I love the bright colors etc but to print anything other than something really basic and simple on the online labels the ink pools and makes a real mess.  Nothing is as crisp as I would like.  I usually end up wasting so many sheets trying to get it perfect that I probably make little or no profit.  I think that I might just have to bite the bullet and get a laser printer.  Seems like they are better suited to print on these types of papers.

I appreciate your tip!  Thanks so much!
JM
