Who uses the Martha Stewart Circle Cutter?
« on: September 15, 2008, 02:37:16 PM »
I purchased the Martha Stewart Circle cutter.
I am trying to cut out the Gallon lid.
I use the 5.5 template. What meausurement do you use to cut that out.
I am having a hard time. I put it over the template but when I spin the circle to match the size as it goes around it is not staying on it.
What am I doing wrong?

I am not sure about the Martha Stewart one but I brought the one by Fiskars and it has measurments on it to 8" that you slide the bar to.

If I make it and you can use it by all means go ahead.  Just give me a little credit for stretching my brain. :)

I have it and you have to first give it a number of practice runs without the knife.  I found that the biggest problem was positioning it directly over the middle.  When I had it properly positioned, it worked very well.

I also bought a set of three very sharp scissors (I don't remember the name but they are from Michael's, or Hobby Lobby or such and are in a black zippered package) and they are wonderful for hand cutting the circles.  Since they are so sharp and so fine, they do a great job at your turn the paper with a bit of stress at the cutting point.

chocolateany1?  I have the fiskars one too but I am LOST at trying to figure out how to use it correctly on actual circle graphics!!!  How do you get it centered properly to cut on the lines?  Any help would be greatly appreciated since right now all I feel like is that I wasted my money!!
Thanks...
Pam

I have the MS Circle Cutter and I agree with Katie, you have to give it a couple of test runs before you actually cut it.

Once you get it placed properly, it works perfect.  Here are the measurements that I used last..for a gal lid:  5 5/16 or 5 1/4 and for a qt lid:  2 3/16.

HTH!
