Blog Entry: The Harry Potter series is one of the biggest hits since its first movie (and book) was released. This is one achievement straight from the imagination of a stay home mom and hers is a story everyone can surely reflect on. Any person doing a background search, on one of today’s greatest authors, can definitely be gazing in awe at the life she lived. Joanne Rowling came from a humble beginning and is presently one of the most successful Brit. In 2007, Forbes ranked her as the 48th most powerful celebrity. That same year, Time Magazine’s named her as a runner-up for Person of the Year as she has inspired her fans with regards to social, moral, even political issues. In 2008, she was enlisted in Sunday Times Rich List as the twelfth richest woman in Britain. Even with such success, Ms. Rowling has kept her feet on the ground and is presently noted as a philanthropist due to her support in charities. Reading Harry Potter is like reading into JK “Jo” Rowling’s life. As we do a instant people search on her biography, is was noted there how her appearance as a baby show’s the descriptions of a photograph of a beach ball in different colored bobble hats found in first book “Philosopher’s Stone”. Di, Jo’s younger sister, was a very pretty little girl with dark hair and dark brown eyes. When they were younger Jo had hit Di with a battery which left a scar just above her eyebrows. They were wild kids, who would constantly fight, but during the times they were not, they were the best of friends and the storyteller in Jo would come out. In the place where they moved, Winterbourne, there were children who were their age. Two of them were a brother and sister who’s surnames are Potter. She was very fond of their surname unlike hers which usually start jokes like “Rowling stones” and other nicknames. However, there was a present incident that the Potter brother claimed that he was “Harry” which background checks will show is a complete lie. It was in secondary school that Jo met Sean Harris, the person whom “The Chamber of Secrets” was dedicated to. Sean owned the Ford Anglia, the car model that was used by Ron’s family in the second installment of the Potter series. For Jo the car symbolizes freedom. The worst thing happened as Jo’s mother was diagnosed as having multiple sclerosis, a disease in the central nervous system, that progressed making her mom much more worst than before. In 1983, Jo went to study in the University of Exeter, where she studied French. After leaving the university she went to work in London for an organization which campaigns on human rights. It was then sooner or later that the story that the whole world craze for would hit her head—all it took was a train ride. In 1990, after a flat-hunting with her boyfriend, as they rode the train, the story of the bespectacled boy came into picture. If only she had a pen and paper at that time but she doesn’t. Still, the story of Harry Potter came wildly into her head. Since that day on the train she had written the story of Harry and his life in Hogwarts with fluidity. But on the 30th day of December, 1990, Jo’s and Harry’s life changed with her mother’s death. It was the feeling of loss that gave the grief of Harry for his parents’ death more realistic. It was deeper. She had moved to Portugal to become an English Teacher in an institute and with her she took her Potter manuscript. On her first weeks there she wrote the memorable chapter of Mirror of Erised, the chapter that where a mirror showed Harry his heart’s desire—his parents. Wanting to get the book done, Jo let go of teaching for a while. At that time, she was raising up her daughter Jessica all by herself after she had divorced her husband whom she met in Portugal. At night, as Jessica would fall asleep, she would write on her book. She did this ‘till finally it was done. It took her a year to find a publisher. There were lots who turned her down until finally in the August of 1996, a call came from her agent telling her that her book was going to be published. It had struck the whole world mad. The well told tale of a boy who was to defeat the Dark Lord, of a story that would touch both young and old as life’s continues its battle to the righteous path. Jo—JK Rowling has truly made her life’s lessons and magic touch us through the world of Harry Potter.
