What R U doing for New Years Eve?!
Posted On 12/31/2006 08:41:33

Sooooo... what are you doing for New Years Eve??  Feel free to post on my blog!

I've found over the years that there are 2 types of New Years Eve people.  First, there are the ones that stay home and relax and second, there are the ones that go out to party.  And sometimes the go out and party people drink a little bit over the limit celebrating the occasion.  My hubby and I fall into Category #1 these days - the Stay at Home people.  I always consider New Years Eve and 4th of July amateur drunk nights.  Don't get me wrong... I have nothing against social drinking as long as you know your limits!  In my younger days, I fell into category 2 Laughing  I think it really hit home for me about drinking and driving after my daughter started to drive!  My first thoughts when she pulled out from in front of our house by herself that very first time were "I pray to God that someone isn't out there whose had too much to drink while my daughter is on the road".  Now, I'm doubly fearful because I have my 6 month old granddaughter too.  If you fall into category 2 and you like to have fun and party on New Years Eve, please be careful and know your limits!

I will be spending this New Years Eve with my beloved hubby, my dog Jetta and my granddaughter Aleeyah Innocent  so I'll be up to my armpits in Isomil, Doggie Kibble and Shrimp Cocktail for me and my hubby LoL.  We decided to let my daughter and her future hubby enjoy New Years while we babysit (and not that I'm complaining about babysitting because I love keeping my granddaughter overnight) hehe

Whatever you decide to do this New Years Eve, please Be Careful, Stay Safe and have a Blessed New Years!

Xmas is here and gone *sigh*

Ahhh yesss... here we are and such a beautiful Christmas is over.  The big thing I missed this year - besides my daughter being here - was snow.  I can't believe we haven't had not one flake of snow yet!  At this rate, we won't have any snow until Easter LoL.  It's hard to believe that we go through all this preparation for a few days of festivities, make ourselves crazy - and then it's over just that fast!  I don't know about the rest of you but I truly was stressed to the max and there were so many more things I wanted to get done but just didn't have the time to do it.  I guess I better give myself a good kick in the pants extra early next year Laughing  Even though this was an extra emotional Xmas for me, it truly was a wonderful Xmas.  My only regret is that our loved one - Russell - couldn't be here with us.  He was like a family member to us and such a wonderful, loving person.  He loved my entire family so much.  My daughter and I used to refer to him as Pap Tucker (Tucker being his last name).  I made him a Christmas Remembrance Novena Candle which we are burning every day in his memory.  He loved simple things and I know he's looking down from above with such appreciation for such a small thing.

With a New Year about to knock on my door, I realize I need to sit back and think about the things I have to be thankful for this year.  I for one am thankful for so many things in my life - all of which would take me forever to list but to name a few:  the man whom I love so much and I tied the knot this year and he truly is the man for me; my husband is now a 6 month cancer survivor; we were given a beautiful granddaughter this past July who we love more than anything; my daughter and her new family are happy and healthy and doing well; my 92 year old grandmother is still with us and going strong; we have loving parents who are always there for us; and we have wonderful, loving friends who care about us and stand by us through the toughest of times.  What we have in life is not counted by what's in our checkbook and savings, but it is counted by the blessings we have been given.  I for one have been truly blessed this year and I hope each and every person I know is as blessed as I am.

Until my next blogging.. I hope you have been blessed this year and that the New Year brings you many more blessings.

Okay.. so here I am making my very first entry into my own blog LoL.  Now this is definitely something new for me.  I've read blogs here and there over the years on the internet and I always wanted to do this so here goes...

We had a wonderful Christmas Eve and a wonderful Christmas Day - although this was an emotional Christmas for me.  This was the very first Christmas that my daughter has her own family so I was sort of left on my own to decorate my tree and do the things she and I have done together for so many years.  I'm so happy for her to have her own family and at the same time I was so sad for me.  I guess this is just a part of watching our children grow up and move on in their lives.  I came across an ornament that was given to me the Xmas I was pregnant with her.  It's a plastic canvas bear in pink.  I was originally given one in pink and one in blue since I didn't know if I was having a boy or a girl.  I had my Ashley almost 21 years ago so this pink bear has been on my tree for that many years.  So when I pulled it out of my ornament bag this year, it just was so emotional for me knowing that my baby girl was grown up, has her own beautiful daughter and that that pink bear belongs on her tree now Kiss  I called my daughter and I told her that her mother was having an "emotional moment" and I told her about the bear LoL.  I'm sure she was thinking... "Gee Mom, here we go again" LoL.  I gave her the ornament the next day so that she can place it on her tree and save for her daughter, Aleeyah.  Someday, she can pass that same ornament on to her daughter the way I did to her.

I truly enjoyed Xmas this year especially with my granddaughter Aleeyah.  Granted, she's only 5-1/2 months old but seeing her unwrap her gifts - and try to eat the paper - and have so much fun truly brought back the magic of Xmas for me that I always had when my daughter was young.  Something about children and Xmas is just such a wonderful thing!  Watching their faces light up when they open their presents - their excitement because Santa Came - just everything about children and Xmas is just such a wonderful thing!

I'm totally exhausted but it was worth it.  I am so looking forward to a very laid back day today!

I'll have to get some pictures posted in my album so I an share our Xmas with my WC family so check out my album later Wink

Until my next blogging... Have a great day!
